Know Your Contract

It is very important that you understand and defend your contract.

Each member of staff signs a legally binding contract with our employer, Teesside University. The provisions of the contract are binding both ways! Your contract defines how many hours you should work in a week and in a year, how much holiday you are entitled to, sick leave, maternity leave etc. It is really important that you understand these requires and are assertive, when necessary to make sure these provisions are enforced. The information in these pages will give you more information about asserting your rights, particularly regarding your workload.

You can find the official University Workload Framework document on via the link above and is available on the University website. We strong recommend that you read this and understand what it says as it also discusses the allowances for each task (teaching and administrative) that you may be required to do.
